SPEAKER PROFILES
Sarah Carr
UK Information Commissioner's Office
Sarah Carr is a Senior Case Officer in the Regulatory Assurance department of the ICO, working on the development, approval and implementation of UK GDPR certification schemes.
Sarah joined the ICO’s Advice Services department in 2015, providing advice and guidance to organisations and individuals before moving to Assurance as a Lead Auditor. She joined the newly formed Codes and Certification team in 2018. Since then Sarah has been responsible for developing processes, guidance and engaging with stakeholders to encourage the development of data protection certification schemes. Sarah has a broad knowledge of the UK data protection legislation, as well as specific expertise in the area of certification, and has represented the ICO both nationally and internationally.
Christine Eckersley
UK Information Commissioner's Office
Christine Eckersley is a Group Manager in the Regulatory Assurance department of the ICO, responsible for the delivery of the ICO Codes of Conduct and Certification services.
Prior to joining the ICO Christine was involved in financial audit and project management. Within the ICO, she has managed audit teams delivering ICO data protection audits across various public and private sector organisations, and holds CIIA, ISO27001, and ISEB audit and data protection qualifications. Christine subsequently developed the ICO’s original operational processes and guidance for the assessment of DPIAs and Codes of Conduct and represented the ICO at the European Data Protection Board expert sub groups for Codes of Conduct and Certification.

He’s a straight-talking Lancastrian who likes to keep things simple and honest. Sometimes this gets him into trouble!
Ed Tucker
Snr Director of Cyber Security, The Workshop
He is currently the CISO of global group of companies delivering both strategic internal gains and establishing external cyber revenue streams. Ed has previously consulted across multiple sectors including Government, CNI, finance, technology and gaming. He has also founded two successful cyber start-ups, been the CIO at another start-up and prior to that head of cyber security at HM Revenue & Customs as well as other leadership roles. He was the 2017 European Chief Information Security Officer of the Year, UK Security Professional of the Year, and Security Leader of the Year and has been widely recognised for his honesty and in seeking and sharing knowledge with the wider security world.
Mark Gleeson

Mark is a partner at Brandsmiths, one of the UK’s leading boutique law firms specialising in advising brands and entrepreneurs. Mark’s areas of practice are data protection, cyber-security and information law. His clients range from start-ups to multinationals. His practice covers transactional, regulatory and contentious data matters. With more than 25 years’ experience, Mark has worked in senior in-house data protection roles and in specialist data protection practices with a variety of firms including Addleshaw Goddard and Womble Bond Dickinson. He advises on compliance strategies (including audits, governance, drafting and training), breach (including regulatory investigations and litigation on behalf of controllers, processors and individuals). Mark, a barrister, is recommended by the legal directory Legal 500 which has described him as “highly regarded for experience in global data compliance projects, freedom of information, cyber breaches and data projects”.
Ian Watson

Ian Watson has enjoyed the glamour and excitement of shredding machine industry for most of his life. He is owner, CEO and founder of Ecosystem Limited. Ecosystem are sole UK agents for Intimus a long established international German company mostly known for the manufacture high security shredding machines for Government use. Intimus more recently diversified into degaussers, disintegrators and a range of print finishing equipment. Evashred are a New Zealand based manufacturer of mobile and static industrial shredders for large volume destruction of HDD, paper and any other solid waste. When not at work he tries to play musical instruments and sail boats.
Andy Settle
Senior Manager (Cyber Response), KPMG
Andy is the Senior Manager for KPMG UK’s Cyber Incident Response services, providing holistic and turn-key crisis, incident and forensic response advisory services to a range of global clients including a number of international insurance providers. For over three decade, Andy has been dedicated to responding to the full spectrum of cyber security challenges. Including major data breaches, online fraud detection, incident response & remediation, intrusion detection penetration testing and vulnerability & threat research. He has worked within UK Critical National Infrastructure, telecommunications and financial sectors, central government and UK Defence. He is a member of the UK NCSC Security Researchers Information Exchange and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society. He is originally from a software engineering background, with significant experience in telecoms, networks and systems. As an active member of the British Army Reserves, Andy is a Professionally Qualified Officer providing his cyber security subject matter expertise across UK Defence both within the UK and in operational environments including Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dr Phil Turner
Senior Forensic Consultant, DXC
Dr. Philip Turner has a background of over 30 years in Information Security, Digital Forensics and Data Recovery. As part of this he was responsible for conducting data overwriting product testing as part of the UK Government certification scheme whilst at the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (latterly QinetiQ). During this time, he conducted the testing of numerous commercial data erasure products to determine if they complied with UK Government data erasure standards. In addition, he provided technical advice and guidance on digital storage media, data overwriting and destruction. More recently he has undertaken Incident Response and Threat Hunting at HP and currently works at DXC Technology.

Michael Fraser
TV Presenter
Best known for co presenting a number of highly regarded burglary related Michael Fraser is also a highly successful security consultant and motivational speaker. As a youngster in care, he came within a whisker of receiving a custodial sentence and has not forgotten how he could so very easily have gone on to become a hardened criminal had he not been given a chance to ‘go straight.’ In constant demand for media interviews, security skewed marketing campaigns and speaking, Michael Fraser is the man everybody turns to for comment and presenting on all topics relating to burglary and general crime in and around the home. He is an expert on how not to become a victim of crime whether it be a burgled property or when one is out and about. His practical but incredibly valuable advice to help people prevent break-ins at home, a shed being pilfered, a car being stolen, a hand bag being pick pocketed or a pet being pinched is second to none.
Paul Finnis
Learning Foundation and Digital Poverty Alliance
Paul Finnis is the CEO of the Learning Foundation. Paul has worked within the charity/ngo sector for 35 years. The last 20 years have seen a closer focus on education from setting up the British Council for School Environments to leading a British education ngo in Vietnam for 7 years. Paul has seen first-hand the power that the right intervention in education has to profoundly change lives and believes strongly in transparency and ensuring that genuine change is delivered. The Learning Foundation is now 20 years old and works directly with schools looking to introduce technology into learning as part of their toolkit for teachers and students. In February 2019 Paul launched Digital Access for All with a powerful group of organisations aimed at ensuring that every school-aged child in the UK has the access, skills, and support that they need to the digital world at home for learning and life. Steve Mellings
Founder, ADISA
Steve is the founder of the ADISA which is a Product and Service Certification company based in the UK.
The ADISA Asset Recovery Standard is a risk-based certification for companies offering data sanitization and asset recovery services. It is referenced by the UK National Cyber Security Centre and formally recognized by DIPCOG which is a GCHQ and MoD committee.
In 2012 Steve worked with the ICO and wrote much of the official guidance notes which were released to help businesses comply with data protection legislation in this area. Steve is also the author of the National Computer Centre (NCC)’s guidance notes on how to manage risk when disposing of assets.
Steve has also worked with BSI on the development of a publicly available specification (PAS) 7010. This was for the destruction of digital media but was withdrawn prior to publication.
In 2019-2021, Steve worked with the ICO to achieve formal approval of Asset Recovery Standard 8.0 which was one of the first Standards to be recognized under Article 42 of the UK GDPR as a Certification Scheme.
In 2021, Steve has been shortlisted for the Individual Contribution to IT Cyber Security Award from the Computer Security Magazine.
Richard Kenny
Group IT Director, Techbuyer
Rich is the Group IT Director at Techbuyer where he leads Systems and IT, Sustainability, Compliance and Project teams alongside technical, research and innovation partnerships with leading UK universities. His research and development focus are hardware energy efficiency and the environmental and economic impacts of IT hardware during creation, use and disposal. He is a firm believer in the circular economy and sustainable solutions for IT hardware.
He has contributed to the UK’s Industrial Strategy through the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee and had his research published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, most recently the IEEE Journal of Sustainable Computing
Mark Chodos

With over twenty years of technology and product management, Mark is the rare technologist who can see and understand complex business issues. Mark began his career as a software engineer for companies including Altech and Siemens design complex communication applications. He was brought to the USA to head up an Internet startup ATEO whose product was eventually acquired by Intel Corporation. Mark then started his own software company, Makor Solutions, focused on providing the IT Asset Recovery and eWaste Recycling industry with business solutions. Today the company boasts customers from around the world and the product, the Makor ERP, is the premier ERP platform for the industry.
Jon Woodward

Jon is the Managing Director of Ultratest Solutions. Prior to Jon joining Ultratest in 2019, he spent many years in the service and supply of Data Storage products. Jon's focus at Ultratest is to work with the engineering team to expand the product portfolio of test, erase and repair solutions, while growing the customer base across the globe.
Peter Jack
Technical Officer, BSIA
Peter is responsible for supporting member companies at technical, regional & sector meeting, as well as developing and vetting security industry guides, codes of practice and standards. He also represents the BSIA on selected technical working groups such as industry stakeholders and standards bodies both in and outside the UK. In addition, Peter liaises with and visits members to provide advice and support on technical issues, policies and legislation that affects their business, as well as supporting industry events, exhibitions and promoting the work of the BSIA. Peter is the BSIA lead on the destruction of confidential material (ID) section and involved with the revision of the European standard on this, EN 15713.
Tom Ford
Membership Development Manager, BSIA
As membership Development Manager, Tom Ford is responsible for growing overall membership and providing support to the Associations existing members. His expertise is within managing client accounts, project management and developing client relationships for a variety of trade associations and not-for-profit bodies. He brings over a decade of experience within the fields of finance, retail, marketing, education, legislation and security to the BSIA
